BCCA Clinical Trials - approx. 13 minutes

This 13 minute documentary concerning clinical trials in oncology is directed at patients and anyone who may be curious about clinical trials. It provides an understanding of the various types of clinical trials. The interviewer talks to three medical oncologists, Drs. Christopher Lee, Brian Norris, and Lyly Le at the BC Cancer Agency about the types of clinical research.

They also talk about aspects of clinical trials such as funding, the purpose of the three types of clinical trials (Phase 1, 2 or 3) and how they can benefit patients who participate. There is also a first-hand account of participating in a clinical trial by a patient at the BC Cancer Agency, Fraser Valley Centre. Dr. Joe Connors talks about the role of the Research Ethics Board, which reviews every clinical trial that is conducted at the BC Cancer Agency, and ensures the safety and privacy of patients participating in clinical trials at the BCCA.
